"We have slept well
in this broad, firm bed,
nestled in sheets, blankets, pillows;
thick carpet and warm old wood.

We have eaten well
in this big, old home,
welcomed with warmth, humor, cheer;
good cookies and satisfying food.

We have read and played games,
rested and talked,
embraced the details, touches, care.

We have stayed well
in the Doctor’s house.
Thank you.”

ABINGTON

This light-filled front room with views of gardens from every window is the largest of the Main House rooms.  Its inviting color palette is ivory, taupe and rose.  Rest in the impressive king, four poster, pine bed warmed by the ivory enamel fireplace.  The roomy Stickley style rocking chair, desk, table and chairs provide you opportunity to relax, read, and write while you savor a cup of tea.   The Moorish influence bathroom has a custom designed corner shower and a sky view from the loo.  This lovely private bathroom is outside the room. The key to your bedroom is the key to your private bathroom.

Once used by the doctor’s wife Delia as her bed-sitting room, this room is a favorite for longer stays.  Except for the poster bed, all furniture is original to the house and reflects 1800 – 1920 designs.
