PARLORS
The
front and back parlors are grand, comfortable places to
chat, read, or play games. Check out the selection of
cards and board games in the restored wheelbarrow.
Catch that “can’t miss event” on satellite television
discretely sequestered in an armoire. This is where you
will enjoy late afternoon seasonal refreshments.
Bring in
your early morning coffee and read the newspaper.
Snuggle up with a good book before the fireplace.
You may even play Hannah’s upright grand “organ” piano.
Need sheet music? We’ve some classic “oldies” to
share.
Peruse the
books that reflect the broad interests of the Locke
family. We are also privileged to have the “Library” of
the Ladies Library Association of Elliott Township.
A portrait of Dr. Locke, landscapes by William
Armstrong, and the Scotia Bluffs by Ida Locke evoke the
era of early 19th century California. A
Victorian “what not” shows off 19th century
decorative items.
Just outside
the parlors is a display case of artifacts found in the
house, including some of Dr. Locke’s medical
instruments. The majority of Dr. Locke’s medical
equipment has been donated to the Sierra Medical Museum
in Sacramento.
